History of nativity scenes

The first nativity scene was exhibited in Rome, Italy in 1291. For many years, nativities could only be seen in churches at Christmas. They grew to become very popular throughout Europe in the 16th century, appearing in the private chapels of royal castles and aristocratic palaces. Renaissance nobility considered nativity scenes the most honorable and prestigious gifts one could be given. You can now make them your own.

Influence on children

Nativities are a positive influence for children, creating awareness of traditional human handiwork, values and artistic taste. Children can experience firsthand the feeling and atmosphere of the day of Jesus’ miraculous birth to the Holy Mother Mary. Nativity scenes help children learn about religion in a fun and memorable way, providing a visual lesson of love and beauty.
